In the context of the Asian Games 2023, the men’s cricket event has reached its first quarter-final match, where India has set a target of 203 runs against Nepal. Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal showcased remarkable batting skills, scoring a century in just 49 balls. Shivam Dubey and Rinku Singh also contributed significantly with their explosive performances.

The Indian team, led by captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, won the toss and opted to bat first. They had a strong start, with Yashasvi and Ruturaj forming a partnership of 103 runs in just 9.5 overs. However, Captain Ruturaj lost his wicket after scoring 25 runs from 23 balls. Following that, India lost two quick wickets, with Tilak Verma scoring only 2 runs off 10 balls and wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma adding just 5 runs from 4 balls.

Despite these setbacks, Yashasvi continued his aggressive batting, completing his century in style. He scored 100 runs in 48 balls, which included 7 sixes and 8 fours.

At one point, the Indian team was at 150 runs for 4 wickets in 16.2 overs. It was then that Shivam Dubey and Rinku Singh took charge. They built a strong partnership of 52 runs in 22 balls, guiding Team India to a total score of over 200. Shivam Dubey contributed 25 runs from 19 balls, while Rinku Singh played a fantastic innings of 37 runs from just 15 balls.

Nepal’s Dipendra Singh played effective bowling, giving away 31 runs and taking two wickets in his 4 overs. Sandeep Lamichhane and Sompal Kami also claimed one wicket each.

It’s worth mentioning that India’s senior cricket team is currently participating in the 2023 World Cup. Therefore, in the Asian Games 2023, India has fielded its B-team.
